Out of the Stone Age

So for the first whole week we were here we had no TV and no Internet. Basically we had no idea what was going on in the world (like we weren't already removed enough with a new baby). But Comcast finally came and now Jake can stop rolling around our house on the rolly office chair trying to get some signal he could bum off of for a few minutes (oh its true, this was a regular occurrence...can't you just picture him doing it).

Jake started school last week and started his externship with the Federal Judge (the Honorable J. Thomas Greene), which he is especially excited about this week. I also started school this week. I am taking one class at Salt Lake Center and will prob pick up a few independent study classes as well so I can finally get that diploma and not feel the guilt every time I pick up any book that isn't for a class or spend time on any other hobby because all I can think is "you just gotta get those last few classes done, then you can do other stuff". Anyway it worked out well I just go one night a week and Jake and Carder get a couple of hours of nice bonding time. It was just so weird to put on that backpack again. I know its been just over a year, but prior to that I had attended school for the past fifteen years strait, and so much has happened with the baby etc. so it feels like it had been forever ago, so I was definitely feeling a little anxious. But it was a good experience though when I got home I couldn't put Carder down for a couple hours...its crazy how attached you get the little guy.

Our new neighborhood seems like its going to be really nice (ask me again once it starts snowing). We have most of the big stuff put together, but unpacking the boxes is taking forever, (Carder doesn't really help the cause). It was nice though, my family brought my sister Brittany up to school this last weekend, so they stayed with us for a couple days, it was a nice to have them it helped to slowly ease me into the fact that I'll be seeing less of them.

Other than that since we've been up here Carder turned 3 months (I totally see now what parents mean when they say how time just flies by) and Jake and I celebrated our two year anniversary on the 25th. We had a wonderful dinner up in Park City while Jake's mom watched Carder for the evening.

Here is a look at what we've been up to:

I've been trying to get his pictures done at all the milestones (newborn, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months etc) So here are some of his 3 month pictures...

While my family was here we went to Hoogle Zoo. It was Carder and Jaxons first time at the Zoo. Carder liked looking around at first but for the majority of the time he took it as a nice place to nap while he had a stroller ride.

Whirlwind

This week has been a whirlwind of events. We had both sides of our family come into town, it was my Mom's birthday, we blessed Carder, my best friend Whitney got married and I was in the wedding party, my best friend Brittney and her daughter Skylee were in town from Georgia and we found out that we are relocating...IN LESS THAN A WEEK! I know whirlwind is definitely an understatement.

We were preparing for the family who were coming into town. I came home from running some of the preparatory errands, Jake sat down and checked his email and was informed that he had been accepted as a transfer student to University of Utah's S.J. Quinney College of Law. The first of our family members arrived a couple hours from getting that news, so this week was filled with fun times with the fam coupled with the stresses of planning a move!!! It'll be a great opportunity for Jake, but I will def miss my fam. With Jake being gone so much due to school and work, I've been over there a lot with the whole pregnancy sickness and then the new baby. Its been great to have them so close. Well, now the heat is on, the last of the Family left this morning and Jake picks up the moving truck on Saturday. We finally secured housing this weekend, so now we've just got to get it all ready in the next 4 or 5 days. (I guess I should be a pro by now since this is our 4th move in less than two years of marriage!) He leaves with the Uhaul Sunday, then Carder and I fly up Thursday.
So here we go back to the cold! Wish me luck because I think I've become a wuss being spoiled with the beautiful San Diego winters!!! But, its going to be great for Jake's law career and I will get to finish school as well (yeah Independent Study, sounds better than it really is)...On that note there will be no allegiance to the U, we still bleed blue through and through!!!

Other than that we had a wonderful week with all of our family who came down for the blessing, it was just nice to spend time with everyone.

Here Are Some Pics from the Last Week:

2 MONTHS

These are of Carder when he turned 2 months. He had to go to the doctor and get his 2 month shots that day. It was horrible, my mom came with me and held him while he got them because I couldn't even watch. I don't think I appreciated how good of a baby Carder is until this. After his shots Carder was definitely not himself for a few days. But we were able to capture a few of before his shots (while he was still happy).

A swing is an amazing thing! Carder is not a normal baby, he doesn't sleep. I'll get him to sleep and then put him down and when I come back to check on him there he is just staring at the ceiling wide awake. But the swing puts him right to sleep as well as allows Jake and I to eat dinner with out having to take turns eating :)

This weekend we went to San Clemente to the Beach. Carder absolutely loved it! The waves made him take the best nap ever and he loved just sitting on our laps and looking at the waves. He is smiling a lot these days, these are the closest thing I have gotten to capturing his smile, not the greatest but better than nothing.

JOHN MAYER

For my birthday Jake got us tickets to go see John Mayer in San Diego. So this last Tuesday my mom watched Carder and Jake and I had our first big night out since the baby. We went to dinner Downtown at one of our favorite places that looks over the bay and then went on to enjoy Mr. Mayer's musical talents. It was way fun, though the next morning Jake and I realized we aren't as youthful as we used to be as we were struggling to stay awake because of our late night (this is def a new phase of life because a couple years ago it would have been considered normal if not an early night...man we're getting old!)

A WEEK OF FIRSTS

This week was a week of firsts for Carder:

We attended the Murrieta Birthday Party last Saturday where they had a concert in the park followed by fireworks. So Carder experienced his first concert: Papa Do Run Run, I guess they were a band back in the 50s/60s they played with the Beach Boys etc. It was fun they did a bunch of covers from that era. Carder just loved being outside, looking around at everything. We made it through most of the concert but not the fireworks, but it was nice to get out as a family :)

This last week I had my 6 week postpartum check up. My mom decided since we had to go down to San Diego, we might as well make a beach day out of it for the kids. After my doctors appointment, Carder and I met up with them for a little bit. I guess this was his first time at the Beach, but I dunno if it counts since he just slept through the whole experience. He did look like a beach babe in his board shorts and beach hat though.

For 4th of July Carder was decked out in his patriotic gear. He was a great napper this day so Jake and I got some nice time to swim (Its a whole new experience at the pool with baby monitor in hand), and then we had a BBQ with Mimi, Grandpa and Jaxon.

These are his 6 week pictures we had taken yesterday. We almost caught a little smile in one of them. He is starting to smile more and more, but its def not on command, more like a pleasant surprise every now and then. When they had him on his tummy he decided he would do a repeat of rolling over (which he hasn't done since that Sunday a couple weeks ago) and almost rolled off the prop they had him on. Thank goodness Jake was standing right next to him and caught him before he could pull of his little stunt!
