Mesa Mini Family Reunion

My Mom's side of the family had a mini family reunion for the few days leading up to Easter.  We went to Arizona and attended the Mesa Easter Pageant, got to go to the Mesa temple, had a family park day, did lots of swimming, played at the Phoenix Children's museum, went to Bahama Bucks (I'm pretty sure daily...gotta love that shaved ice), and just got to spend some nice quality time with the extended familia.

I was once again a lame-o photographer, but I at least did remember to pull my camera out at the Children's Museum (which may just be one of Carder's favorite places in the whole world).

There was this ball contraption, where you dropped them in up high and watched the ball roll through this whole maze of pipes and containers...I swear Carder could have done this activity all day long (hint hint Jake...maybe we should build one of these in our house)

Carder doing what he called "his science"...I am not sure how painting some rock slabs with water is science, but sure
Miss Ellie & Brittany
There was this thing where you velcro spiders to a belt and then turn a lever.  Once you get the spiders to the top they hit a fan and go flying.  The boys found this hilarious.  This is Carder trying to scare me with the spider on his head.
One of the coolest things at this museum is the noodle forest. There are literally hundreds of  foam noodles hanging from the ceiling for you to run through.  I think Leon and my uncle Mark may have been having more fun then the kids because I'm pretty sure some workers had to make them stop running through the forest.
My Mom and her sisters (minus Krissi who couldn't make it because she is getting ready for a big out of state move)
Carder & Zac in the pencil car
Carder and Ellie in the toothpaste car (with Brittany in the background being unsuccessful in getting them to look at the camera)

Carder in the pickle car
doing his sour pickle face
playing at the sand table

After seeing Ellie get to put her feet on the table, Carder thought this was a great idea and tried to get up there himself.  We had to move on to our next activity.

In the arts and crafts room there is this giant paper mache castle that the kids can paint...

Jake got in on the fun
Leon tried his hand at the crafts too

While Carder was in the castle painting some older girls were also in there and I am guessing they must have dripped some of their paint on him because he had blue paint all in the back of his hair...

The blue spikes Dad gave him while trying to wash out the paint

While the rest of the family went back to their respective homes for Easter, my family stayed at Brit & Leons.  The boys had fun doing an easter egg hunt, coloring eggs with Mimi and eating their body weight in chocolate bunnies and ring pops. (like I said I was a loser photographer, so I didn't get any pictures of that stuff, but thanks to my madre we got a few of people in their easter get ups...)

After dinner we headed back to Vegas only to find an accident had shut down one of the highways we needed to go on to get home.  We had to sit there for 3 hours waiting for it to open back up (thank goodness for in-car DVD players...Carder was a little angel).  The little one inside me not so much.  I used to pride myself in never having to stop to go to the bathroom on a road trip, but the three hour dead stop in the middle of nowhere was the meanest thing you could do to a pregnant woman.  I tried to hold it, but with the wait being so long it just wasn't happening.  So after some major anxiety, several pep talks from Jake, and almost resorting to using one of my toddlers diapers, I finally mustered up the courage to be outdoorsy and ventured to the brush.  Oh how all your dignity goes out the window when you are preggers.

[From Jake: My biggest regret of the trip is not getting pictures of Holli headed out on her trip to the brush -- one of my proudest moments.]

Boys Day Out

Once all the family left we had some health issues at our house. I had to go to the hospital due to some preterm contractions (everything ended up being fine, I just have to take it super easy to keep them at bay) and then Carder came down with a nasty cold, which I ended up getting as well. I dunno if it was due to being pregnant but I got it SUPER bad where I ended up having to go on antibiotics to clear it up. It should be illegal for Moms to get sick when they have a sick kid. The last thing in the world you should ever have to do is clean up vomit when you are feeling like you are on your deathbed. Carder fortunately got over it much quicker than I did, so Jake and he had a boys day by going to the Springs Preserve. Carder loved his day with Dad, and Mom got some much needed R&R to help her recover.

Poor Carder was dressed by Dad who decided to not do his hair and then put him in his tan church socks with his play shoes and jeans...Oh Jake what am I gonna do with you?

Carder was fascinated with the desert animals that were there. He came home and told me all about the snakes and bats that he'd seen.

He learned all about erosion while he was there. It is hilarious listening to your 2 year old say the word erosion let alone having him teach you all about what it is.

BOYS BOYS BOYS

While we were in Hawaii, Carder was in heaven getting to play with Jaxon and little miss Ellie.  I was a little worried that he may have a freak out because I've never really left him before without a parent (the only time I have really left him at all was with Jake when I went to Europe last year with my mom & sisters), but Carder did great and I am pretty sure I had more withdrawals for him than he did for us (I think he just may have stayed in CA forever with his Mimi and Poppy if given that choice).

The Bobo Brothers (If you have seen Go Diego Go, you have seen those little trouble making monkeys...anyway Jaxon and Carder call themselves the Bobo Brothers after those monkeys)
Ellie Belly

Once we got home we had the fun little surprise of my Nana and Cousins the Ingles coming into town from Texas.  My Mom came up and brought Carder back to us and then stayed with us for a few days to see her Mom and sisters.  Carder loved having all his friends here, and it was so nice to spend some time with the extended familia.

The boys: Zac, Jaxon, Tyler & Carder
Tyler (8) is like the king of the little boys...they all idolize him.  He taught the little boys all about Star Wars...since then I have had to DVR all the old Star Wars episodes to have for Carder to watch.
My Nana & Me (about 26 weeks prego)...and no Kelsie there are not triplets in there

My Aunt Kimi is obsessed with slurpees, they literally know her at 7-11.  The employess actually refer to her as the "Slurpee Princess."  She gets at least one of these giant toilet bowl sized cups filled a day...the boys thought they were quite cool getting to hold their own slurpee cups on our 7-11 run.
One of the days everyone was here we went to the Children's Museum.  Carder loved it.  He still talks about when we went there and will often include it in his prayers at night.
I am pretty sure Carder is confused as to how old he really is.  He tried to tag along with the big 8 year old boys thinking that he was one of them.
The Cousins (minus Jaxon who was not in the mood for posing for a picture) plus our friends Spencer & Grant Holland who accompanied us that day
Me with my girl cousins...I can't believe how big they are all getting, its just a matter of time now til they all make me look like a midget!

Carder loved dressing up like a firefighter
Jaxon was all about the different jobs like the airplane pilot and auto mechanic sections of the museum
And of course the boys indulged in their favorite past time...Splashing and Giggling:

Another day we went up to Red Rock and the kids got to hike around...Carder just loves to be outside.

Me and my Nana with the little boys while the rest of the kids did more rock climbing etc.  I had to find myself a little rock bench to sit on while everyone else did their hiking around so that little lady inside me would behave herself.

Carder had so much fun with the constant supply of friends...we miss you all already and can't wait to see you all in Arizona for Easter!!!
