When we first moved to Boston, Brenn and Carder's Grandma sent them a package containing the book "Make Way For Ducklings" by Robert McCloskey. The book tells the story of a pair of mallard ducks who come to the Boston area, travel up the Charles River, navigate their way through Becon Hill and finally decide to raise their family on an island in the Boston Public Garden. The kids loved reading this book about the 8 little ducklings who went all the places that we had been to. This book is rather popular in Massachusetts, it is actually the official children's book of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. They have a statue of the mother duck and her eight ducklings, in the Public Garden. We hadn't seen it yet, so we decided to go downtown one afternoon to take a look. We found it after walking around the park for a bit and the kids were quite excited to see some of their favorite storybook characters in statue form.
After we had our fun at the park, we decided to go for a jaunt down Newbury Street and try the cupcake place that everyone had ranted and raved about. (I am still partial to Sweet Tooth Fairy in Utah myself)
Gotta love a fun little afternoon downtown!
