Zoo Day

My Aunt Krissi and her family moved to Utah from Washington State just a few months before we made our move up here. With them being closer we have really enjoyed getting to spend a little more time with the Baker family. Krissi called me and let me know she was taking her little kids to Hogle Zoo the other day (I guess during the winter months Hogle Zoo does a free admittance day the last Wednesday of the month). She had me at "free" (what can I say? my Mama raised me on finding good deals...not to mention Carder just adores his second cousins), so I bundled my kids up and off we went to meet up with the Bakers for a little Zoo afternoon.

Me with the kiddlets...yes there were patches of snow everywhere, but the great thing was since it was free day you could go for just a couple hours and leave guilt free!

Brenn and Carder in their new double stroller (see bottom of this post for how they used to ride). It was super bright (the snow on the ground wasn't helping that factor either) so they couldn't really look at me for the picture.

Julia, Annabell & Carder just loved the giraffes. They have this building that is two stories high so if you go on the top story you can be eye level with the giraffes, which the kids rather enjoyed.

I don't know what Carder enjoyed more getting up close and personal with the giraffes or letting me know how it smelt like "scat" in there (yes he learned all about animal scat at the Santa Rosa Plateau awhile back, and in typical boy fashion loves to point out anything at all disgusting to his mom)

Carder was hilarious, he really enjoyed checking out the tiger from behind the glass. But as we started walking to the next exhibit, we began to walk by the rest of the tigers' habitat which included a bridge/overpass thing for the tigers to walk across. Well one of the tigers got up and started walking our way and Carder freaked, thinking that the tiger was going to get us. I explained that there was a fence and they couldn't get out of there, but he was still yelling for me to hurry up and go faster to get us out of there. It gave me a good little chuckle.

We had a fun afternoon and it was a great way to break in the double stroller :)

***Note: After far too many months of researching and stressing about double strollers we finally got one over Christmas break and are really happy with it. It sure beats traveling like this...

Whenever we would bust the stroller out, Carder insisted on riding in it as well. Since it wasn't a double stroller, he being the strong willed inventive child that he is, created his own by just wedging his little body into the stroller right behind Brenn's bucket with his feet going under the bucket and his little head just poking out by the bottom of her bucket seat.
